Mayor Roy W. Hill is a lifelong citizen, successful businessman and dedicated philanthropist. Mr. Hill’s family has been in the Fairfield area for five generations, dating back to the 1830s.
Since 1972, Hill has owned a law firm in Fairfield specializing in start-up corporations, mergers, acquisitions, governmental lobbying, permitting, environmental matters and fund raising for the energy sector. In 2003, he was elected to the City Council and became mayor in 2004.
Roy is an active member of the community and believes that our children are the future of our town. He has been a supporter of student academic groups, animal rescue organizations for many years and the beautification of our City, as well as events for our children. Hill is a pro-business mayor.

Joe Lee Kirgan, Jr. Councilmember, Place 1

Joe Kirgan has served five terms on the Fairfield City Council. He began his newspaper career at age 13 and has worked in many newspapers throughout his vocation. Kirgan’s grandfather, L. C. Kirgan, purchased The Fairfield Recorder in 1900 and after his death in 1947 Joe’s father ran the newspaper until his death in 1959. In 1960, Joe bought the paper from his grandmother and ran it successfully until selling it to its present owner in 1985. At one point in his career he was recognized as the youngest newspaper editor in the state of Texas while at The Polk County Enterprise in Livingston. Joe has been involved in many civic activities including two terms as president of Fairfield Chamber of Commerce, District Governor in Rotary International, vice president Gulf Coast Press Association, scout leader, district board member of Boy Scouts of America, school board member, president Freestone Country Club, advisory board member for Texas State Technical Institute – Waco, and helped form the Little Dribblers organization in Fairfield, serving as a coach in the early days of that organization. Kirgan believes in strong, stable, common-sense government. |

Luke Ward, Jr. Mayor Pro Tem Councilmember, Place 2

After serving as Mayor and on the City Council of Fairfield from 1994 to 2002, Luke Ward was re-elected to the City Council in 2008 and appointed to Mayor Pro Tem in 2009. Luke's goal is to see Fairfield grow while retaining the "Home Town" feel.
“It is important to attract new businesses to Fairfield while not forgetting the current ones,” Ward said. It is the job of city government to provide an excellent, efficient infrastructure and a safe environment for the citizens of Fairfield to live in.
Luke believes city growth should be based on the growth of commerce and not the growth of city hall. He has over 20 years experience in education and currently serves as a school principal. |

Leldon Childs Councilmember, Place 3

Leldon Childs’ family has lived in Fairfield for generations and he moved here in 1980. Childs is currently actively involved with the Big “T’s Buddies” Autism Support Network, a non-profit organization formed to assist autistic children of Freestone County, and the Centex Oilman's Association, a non-profit organization that raises money for local charities.
Leldon believes in small government and thinks the city council works for the people. He would like to have more businesses in Fairfield that would offer a chance for our children to be able to stay and raise their children here.

Donna J. Tyus, Councilmember, Place 4

In May 2010, Donna J. Tyus was elected to fill the unexpired term of place 2. She is focused on the future of Fairfield and encourages growth and community development. Her priorities include bringing in new businesses and expanding existing ones. “Attracting new industry and businesses helps ease the tax burden for the citizens of Fairfield and brings new amenities to my home town,” said Tyus. She would like to see Fairfield as a major player in the I45 corridor.
Donna's family settled in Freestone County in 1837. Her great, great grandfather, Robert Malone Tyus fought for the Republic of Texas. She is proud of her heritage and when the opportunity was presented, she and her husband, Richard F. Schaufert, relocated their business to Fairfield in 2009. Donna is co-owner and CFO / Financial Consultant of The Kirkwood Group, Inc. a financial investment management firm and President / Managing Partner of Haynie Tyus Land Development, LLC a real estate development company. She is active in Fairfield Rotary and the Fairfield History Club. |

As a lifelong resident, dedicated husband and father of two, Kenneth Hughes is devoted to the ongoing development of Fairfield. His interest in preserving Fairfield for the generations to come while taking economical steps to make certain our community thrives, led him to Fairfield City Council, place 5 in 2009. With over 20 years experience with small town businesses, Kenneth feels that a city should be managed as just that, a business. He wants each and every resident to recognize their voice can and will be heard, and through unity in our community we can accomplish great things. |
