Mosquito Spraying season starts May 25

The City of Fairfield will be conducting a ground fogging program to abate mosquitoes in the City, Lakewood, and Westwood areas, starting Tuesday, May 25.

As weather permits, this process will be conducted over the course of 3 days with one additional fogging day to be determined as needed.  Ground fogging is a preventive measure for disease control.  Fogging times will begin; weather permitting, at approximately 8:00 p.m. CDT on Tuesday, May 25 through Thursday, May 27 for the city and Lakewood. Westwood fogging will be from Tuesday, June 1 through Thursday, June 3.  

Citizens are asked to stay indoors during the actual fogging process.  The chemical used for fogging is called “Mosquito Master 412” from the Clarke Company.  Material Safety Data Sheets regarding the chemical to be used will be provided to anyone requesting the information.  Copies of the information are available at City Hall located at 425 W. Commerce Street in Fairfield and online here. 

In our continuing effort to keep our citizens informed about this important issue, the City will be enacting our Emergency Notification on Monday, May 24. Westwood customers will receive a call on Monday, May 31. The system will call all citizens who have a telephone land line with updates on days and times for this fogging.
